Deontay Wilder: A Heavyweight Contender

From Olympic Medalist to Undefeated Champion

Deontay Leshun Wilder (born October 22, 1985) is an American professional boxer who has held the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020. Nicknamed the "Bronze Bomber," Wilder began his boxing career after a successful amateur career that included winning a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics.

Wilder's professional debut came in 2008, and he quickly established himself as a dominant force in the heavyweight division. With his powerful right hand and exceptional knockout ability, Wilder compiled an impressive undefeated record and captured the WBC title in 2015 with a unanimous decision victory over Bermane Stiverne.

Wilder successfully defended his title 10 times, including a memorable draw against Tyson Fury in 2018 and a rematch in 2020 where he was defeated by technical knockout in the seventh round. Despite the loss, Wilder remains one of the most respected and feared boxers in the heavyweight division.
