Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" Turns 45

Pop's 1977 Solo Album Celebrates Anniversary

The American musician released his second solo studio album, "Lust for Life," on September 9, 1977, through RCA Records. The album spawned the hit single "The Passenger," which reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The album was produced by David Bowie and features a guest appearance by Mick Ronson on guitar. It was recorded at Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, Germany, and was inspired by Pop's experiences living in the city at the time.

The album was a critical and commercial success, and it has been praised for its raw energy and powerful songwriting. It has been ranked as one of the greatest albums of all time by several publications, including Rolling Stone and NME.

In celebration of the album's 45th anniversary, RCA Records is releasing a new deluxe edition of "Lust for Life." The deluxe edition will include remastered audio, previously unreleased outtakes, and a new essay by Pop.
