Kentucky Clinches College World Series Berth with 3-2 Victory

Wildcats Pitching and Timely Hitting Keys to Success

Lexington, Kentucky --

The Kentucky Wildcats are headed to the College World Series for the first time in program history after defeating the Oregon State Beavers 3-2 in a thrilling game at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Wildcats' victory was fueled by a strong pitching performance from Trey Pooser and a timely hit from Ryan Nicholson.

Pooser, a sophomore right-hander, allowed just one hit over the first seven innings of the game. He struck out eight batters and walked two. Nicholson, a senior catcher, drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Wildcats will now face the winner of the game between the Indiana State Sycamores and the Illinois Fighting Illini in the College World Series. The College World Series will be held in Omaha, Nebraska, from June 15-27.
